Southam Cement Works closed in 1999 after more than 150 years of cement
production. Clay is still quarried from the adjacent land and exported to Rugby
Cement Works.

I have also since found out that southam is also a site of geological significance due to a high concentration of fossils, particularly ammonites, which was nice, as i found part of one today.

Visited with Damon and Lawrence and met very briefly with Dweeb and his young ladyfriend.

Anyway we accessed the site to be greeted by the sight of JCBs in operation and trucks shuttling loads back and forth to other cement producing sites which was a bit of a surprise, but didnt curtail our plans as we just kept a low profile until they knocked off at dinnertime and we had the site to ourselves.

anyway to the pictures.

Now, when Damon contacted me during the week and offered me a choice of locations, either british sugar or southam, i chose southam on the basis of this control panel after reading old reports so it would be rude not to include a picture of it.
