So this is my first Report and not a bad start, i think this was a first entry... Yes!!!
The House was built between 1821-23 by Henry Monteith, MP, and its the Tudor Gothic style for those interested in architecture. The house replaced the earlier mansion owned by William Fullerton.
The original owners also owned Barrowfield Mill in Glasgow aswell as the purpose built village factory at Blantyre both employed about 900 people. The Family were also responsible for introducing muslin to Scotland.
From what i can find out the Hospital was opened around 1925 as an Institution for 'mentally defective Catholic children', it was also used as an orphanage till 1983, 1983 thats scary stuff! In 1985 it changed to a Nursing home and has remained such till closing recently.
View from the front, at the end of straight 2 mile driveway
The Rear, over looking the rolling hills
The only original fire place i found (sorry, cant get this the right way)
bit short on jobs here aswell
lot and lots of stuff to play with in this place... enjoy
