Visited with Jaff Fox and Alley.
Orginally named Stockport Workhouse and designed by Henry Bowman who was also responsible for the Congleton workhouse. It was intended to acommodate up to 690 inmates.
After 1912, the workhouse was officially known as Stockport Poor Law Institution. It later became Shaw Heath Hospital, then from 1954 was known as St Thomas' Hospital.
The hospital finally closed in 2004.
Security are still very active on this site and we seen several patrols. It was a stealthy explore from start to fnish. Externally there are many CCTV cameras, it took us over 3.5 hours to cover every section.
