This is a very old Birmingham boozer. It was once the brewery tap for Showell's brewery, who you will all know by now built Langley Maltings. The original building is mid victorian, but it looks as though it has been added to a number of times, making it a hotch potch of styles and a rather odd shape!

Inside is the usual narrow passages leading to the tap room and lounge. There is also a function room (c 1930's) and other smaller rooms which were once probably snugs and parlous.

The cellars to the various buildings form a maze of little tunnels, vaulted passages and spacious rooms loaded up with the various junk a pub collects over the years. That said there was nothing that great down there, just boxes of pub tat, glasses and furniture of all ages and styles.

Along with everything else in this area the pub has been smashed and burned to the extent where it will be ruinous before too long. 100 year old acid etched mirrors have been thoughtlessly smashed, walls have been caved in for 1mm twin and earth. A real shame, but I kind of get the feeling anything nice around that area is doomed not to survive.
