Finally got round to posting a report.

Thought I would start out with what I think can be only described as the complete Ushaw report!

Images taken over 4 visits to the site and an invitation to visit to the live site... Talk about inviting the enemy to tea!

All visits successfully completed without getting caught along with the fellow nutter @The Amateur Wanderer.

A little history on the place if you didn’t already know… (Taken from The Amateur Wanderer & Wiki)

The Seminary and Junior Chapel
“Wikipedia: In 1804 Bishop William Gibson began to build at Ushaw Moor, four miles west of Durham. These buildings, designed by James Taylor, were opened as St Cuthbert's College in 1808. There was a steady expansion during the nineteenth century with new buildings put up to cater for the expanding number of clerical and secular students. In 1847, the newly built chapel, designed by Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin was opened. This was followed by the Big Library and Exhibition Hall designed by Joseph Hansom, 1849-1851. The Junior House, designed by the distinguished architect, Peter Paul Pugin, was added in 1859. St Cuthbert’s Chapel, designed by Dunn and Hansom, was opened in 1884, replacing an earlier one by Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin, which the seminary had then outgrown. The Refectory was designed and built by E. W. Pugin. The final development came in the early 1960s with the opening of a new East wing, providing additional classrooms and single bedrooms for 75 students. The main college buildings are grade II listed, however the College Chapel is grade II* and the Chapel of St Michael is grade I.”

The Barn
The Amateur Wanderer “A general history of the sites origins, but the barn itself was constructed alongside the seminary so that the monks who lived and worked their could be self sufficient and provide for themselves. The Barn seized to operate as part of the seminary, in 1972 and is now a listed building, this is due to the rarity of finding a barn that has been designed to match the design of the seminary. The barn has sty's for pigs, and cattle and also has stables for the horses that would have worked the fields, as well as a large area for hay storage for feeding and bedding the animals. The site was added to English Heritage’s Heritage at Risk Register in 2013. As things stand, the site has been leased to the North of England Civic Trust and they are looking at the possibility of developing the site to establish Heritage Skills Institute”

The Pool
History unclear on this one to find more and an archive pic see The Amateur Wanderer’s Report

i went here today, we got straight in there's a big hole in the wall, but we didnt know the place was covered by security, and we got caught, they had been watching us form somewhere, we only managed to get into the big room in the middle before being thrown out, and the security were dicks, i was taking a panorama photo, and the guard shouted to stop taking photos, so i finished my photo and did as i was told, i put my camera away, and proceeded to leave, as i was leaving 2 other guards came into the room, by this time my friends had got out of the building because they ran whilst i finished my photo, so it was just me and the 3 guards, anyways long story short i did as i was told, but then instead of letting my leave, they pinned me up against a wall by my throat and choked me, one guard pinned my arms down ,and another guard watched to see if my mates were gonna come back, and the guard choking me started verbally abusing me, i honestly thought they were going to beat me up take my belongings and throw me out the building, they threatened to beat me up and then asked where im from, when i told him, he said i was a scruffy c**t because im from middlesbrough, he said the place was full of cctv, so i used it against him and said so the cctv just captured me being assaulted did it? and the "main" guard, pulled me off the wall and pushed me in front of him, and the other 2 guards stood either side of me, and escorted me off the premises

so i suggest wearing a go pro if anybody goes, and to keep it recording, incase you too get assaulted and threatened

i have a couple of photos uploaded to my instagram if anybody wants to have a look my instagram is @admslvn

If the above is true then the first thing i would be doing is contacting the police as this is assault at the very least.

It doesn't matter if you were on someone else's property, there are still laws that security have to abide by and this is far from the rules.

Is this the future?

Welcome to the north east :thumb

Never had any problems here myself, and I've been many times. I guess they're just sick of the traffic and stick they probably get from their bosses. Still, that's no excuse to assault you. We met an angry guy while walking past the main premises which is still active; we were just stood there near the front door as if we were waiting for someone, and we had some abuse thrown at us. I was surprised, given that he looked like a university professor or something; I expected different from Durham University, but I guess the north is the north ;)

@BoroLad nice report man. It took us a while to put the whole site together too lol. Sick of the sight of the place now I think :p
