*edit - can a kind moderator please correct the year in the title? I have made a habit of ballsing up the dates!
Visited with True British Metal and Landie Man (all credit goes to him for finding this location). This was only intended to be a recce after our visit to the Aylesbury Odeon earlier in the day, but we spotted an access point and decided to go for it. At first glance it looks bare as workers have been busy stripping a lot of the stuff out but there are still some nice features left inside if you look hard enough although out the back is a large skip full of the contents of the home and surrounding the skip is more stuff that would have once been in situ
It's been pretty much un-chavved, there are a few broken windows and some graffiti on the outside but that is basically it
The history I can find all comes from the homes owners, The Fremantle Trust:
It closed in summer 2009, and this was possibly due to subsidence or other structural defects- there are large wooden joists supporting one of the staircases and large joists laid out across an upstairs corridor as well. It will be demolished to make way for a new care home. Apologies for the crapness of some of the pics my camera and I were not in tune today
Finally, anyone for sweets?
Or do these potatoes whet your appetite?
Ta for reading - I know care homes get a bit of a bad press on here but this was a good little explore
More pics can be found here The Elms Care Home

The history I can find all comes from the homes owners, The Fremantle Trust:
Built in the 1970s, The Elms is a two-storey home providing residential care for 56 older people. The home is divided into 5 seperate living groups, which include specialist dementia care facilities. Each group has its own lounge and dining area and all service users have their own bedroom.
