The explore
explored with Miss Mayhem AuntieKnickers, The Stig and KM punk.
The explore was the type I like being that it was just a nice chilled walk around the place with no problems.
it was my first explore with The Stig and AuntieKnickers and its got to be one of the funniest explores Iv had tbf. It was a bit of a let down that half of the site was under construction although anyone whose been to place would no its quite big so there was still plenty to explore.
History
Samuel Roberts, the owner of the independent brewery built the Kimberley Brewery in 1932 which for how long it was operated made it the oldest independent brewery in Nottinghamshire.
Elsewhere Stephen hanson built hansons limited in 1847 on brewery street. In 1861 Stephen hanson died so the ownership of the brewery passed over to his wife and son.
William and Thomas were quite successful brewers that had come from Heanor. They were successful enough that they decided to buy Samuel Robinsons brewery in 1957. they clearly saw potential with this relatively small brewery as they decided to expand it and most of the buildings there are based on the old buildings.
There was a lot of competition between the two companies, so much so that they even resorted to buying pubs so that they could become the suppliers to those pubs. over the next few years things went as normal until both of the breweries began to run short of water, so much so that they both had to make a deal with the local holly well spring to share the water equally putting neither of them to an advantage. this agreement suited both breweries fine until 1930 when both breweries become under pressure from much large companies so they had to merge together to stay in the business.
In the end a company called Greene king decided to purchase the brewery and end the brewing tradition in Nottinghamshire by moving it to a more cost effective place in 2006.
