The purge on documenting the vanishing pubs of the midlands continues, with another round of closures.

The Waggon and Horses is a 1950/60's pub, decorated with an unusual tiled mural of a dray (possibly from Springfied brewery, as it stands virtually in it's shadow). Not the epic Victorian pub architecture I like to photograph, but inside the pub is quite 'retro', and much of it's decor is 1970's, and is just like I remember pubs that I used to go in with my dad whan I was a kid.

The inside is virtually untouched. Glasses behind the bar, Canada dry and Schweppes tonic water in crates in the basement, placemats still on the table in the 'eatery'.

Part of it's cellar had been converted into a bar/club, with a stage. The small windows and black paintwork made it a dingy quite unpleasant place... but I'm sure it was great in it's day:confused

Lidl have bought the site... whoopie:banghead
