Three questions about things under Manchester that I am interested in:
1: Has anyone tried getting down onto the Medlock and travelling along the river through Manchester to Castlefield where it lets out into the canal system? What would be the logistics of such a trip?
2: The same questiosn about the Irk and the Irwell to travel underneath Victoria station.
3: If you go onto Old-Maps - the online repository of historic maps - home page, centre on the site of the Roman fort at Castlefield near Deansgate and look at the 1851 map option, there is a tunnel that runs under it. Does anyone know anything about this tunnel? It isn't anything I have heard of before and it certainly isn't a part of the Salford Junction canal.
