General - Varosha (Cyprus) why so little on this?

There are so few reports on what must be one of the best explorers anywhere. Why is this? Is it too difficult to assess?

Well it's obviously not then is it?

We're a UK forum and that's in Cyprus, furthermore it's occupied by the Turkish Army.

Why don't you go there yourself?

I would have thought it was easy to assess just a little harder too access for the above reasons look forward to your report

Varosha is the southern suburb of the Cypriot city of Famagusta and is in the Turkish sector and controlled by the Turkish Army not by the UN as is the rest of the City, and is not recommended you try as they do arrest trespassers if caught. I had a wonder in the northern suburbs when serving in Cyprus and there is a dividing fence though the middle along the Green Line.

I have been to Cyprus many times and have family out there. I would not recommend anyone, no matter how big your balls, crossing the line without being on a guided tour. There are other derps in Cyprus, pleanty of abandoned hotels well within the Greek side or Turkish side, but with the countries close by, and the tension created by jets going over often, and the current situation in Turkey, there is a lot of unrest and I doubt any police/army officer with a large gun is going to give you time to explain before he escorts you off somewhere. You can still get shot if you are seen to be a risk!
If you want you could try to get a permission visit for Nicosia, but even doing that on a non-permission basis is likely to get you noticed by the UN guys near by. I would suggest sticking to hotels etc
Sorry to be so serious, normally I am not, but my family were based over the years at Akrotiri and I have been given the same warnings many times x

bullshit!! there is now way anyone can get any where even remotely close to it, except for a perimeter fence and even there you are not allowed to take photos...so if anyone wants to even try and get into it good fucking luck

i live in North Cyprus. you are likely to get a cap in your ass if you enter Varosha (Turkish name is Marash)
