Before you all say "blah!", I'll get in there first. Blah, blah, blah. Westplate is BLAH...BUT, blah as it may be, it's a part of Sheffield's past and was one of a mere handful of the city's true family run businesses up until fairly recently.

This is Westplate. A stumble on and mini-report for good mappings sake. The megre brochure left behind says that Westplate had been going strong for 190 years in the mid-80s and made silver and silver plated items. The company is still alive-alive-o, though I fear not in quite the same cosy, father/son sense.

Check out their website for an array of pretties that would have been made here pre-move: http://www.westplate.com/index.html

I'm told this is a 'chuck'. Anyone knows what exactly it would
have done there, please do tell:

The porn room really is quite something out on it's own here. Some really specialist stuff

There really isn't much more to it than that I'm afraid, but it's worth noting all you who visit and those who are keen to find new stuff, that Westplate is tucked away and overlooked by loads of these:

Point being, Sheffield by car is near pointless. Get out on foot and have a look, and not just in the main 'industrial areas'. There's loads of stuff in the 'burbs too :)

...and remember, there are no cutlers or tool makers left in Sheffield :crazy
