I'm not too sure on the exact history, but the article I read said that where the reservoir is there actually used to be 3 more buildings. The site was opened in the 1930's and was used to mine gravel and was open until around the late 1990s/2000s.

This site isn't particularly big and took around 20-30 minutes and that included sitting in the crane and poking the reservoir, which at the time of exploring was frozen. It was also getting dark so its possible that I missed a few things as I was trying to get to another site before the sun set.

Nice photos mate, the snow adds effect. This site is very local to me and I've visited it several times in the past, there did indeed used to be a couple more buildings on the site. Here's what the site looked like in 1999:

Being local I know quite a bit about the history of the site as there has been a few posts about it on a local history FB group. The site was originally owned by a local businessman, Sam Daniels, and the quarry was originally dug by hand, then it was later owned by H Dean, then Redland who owned another site North of Norwich, then finally Whitton & Frost. It's now owned by Earsham Gravels who still operate on a number of sites in the area. No plans for the future of the site, and no plans of the remains to be demolished either.
