HISTORY- located near BURY cemetary in lancashire , the history on this place is sketchy at best and looks like it was built in the 1980s ? the william kemp centre catered for the care of the elderly handicapped of the district to provide them a place to socialize during the day , we reckon this place closed in late 2012 due to murials put up on the walls to celebrate the LONDON 2012 OLYMPICS .
a fund of £1.85 million has been allotted to build 60 assisted self contained flats for the disabled on the present site .
bet someone on bury council / six town housing is making a few quid on this deal ! i wonder what has happened to the handicapped folk who heavily relied on the services of the day centre in the interim of 2012-2016 ?
the scheme is designed so that the residents are not placed in the care of normal old peoples homes !
THE EXPLORE- found this place thanks to a fellow urban explorer @Bolts , cheers mate ! access was easy , security virtually non existent , i have heard that a council security team do visit on occasion ! but don,t let that put you off folks (LOL) . the local council have made many attempts to seal this place up , but alas to no avail !...lol
the site has not been empty that long and is in a good condition ! even with power still connected in places ! so no torches needed here folks !!! on occasion this place has been used for training purposes by the GREATER MANCHESTER FIREARMS UNIT .
this place is worth an hour of any urban explorers time .....if you do want to visit ? then do it soon ! as there are notices up to demolish this complex in jan/feb 2016..... ! WHEN ITS GONE !.. ITS GONE !
