Sessions of York
It's not often you get to expore something that's been at the end of your street since you were a kid.
I went on a tour of this place, as a primary school kid, in about 1979. The teacher had to make us agree to keep our hands in our pockets as they were worried about all the moving machinery. The highlight was getting a bag of stickers at the end. It's a real shame to see it like this as it was a York company through and through. It was founded, like Rownrees, by Quakers. I'm glad, if a somewhat smaller company, has continued in the name of SessionsUK.
In no particular order:-
Probably the original entrance.
Mather and Platt
View from the highest point.
Boiler house.
WS - William Sessions.
Quite a few old stickers around the place.
Kids have been having some serious fun in here.
Here's a link from the Yorkshire Evening Press with more info.
End of an era for 200-year-old York firm (From York Press)
