Made a little fortnight tour in my new Ford Karavan (single bed version)...

...trough french dep. Jura and Doubs area (Franche Comte),
passing Swabian Jura and Black Forest (Germany) and a bit of swiss Jura;
using nearly only the smallest streets I could find, lots of fine uphill and down so.
Not easy, forcing the sat nav into the most shitty and slowest ways from a to b.
-
Must say, the Karavan made it pretty well,
only two bulbs and the front tyres (50 euros at a gas station) had to be changed
and sleeping in that little sardine tin can worked much better than expected, no need for using tent.
Met up with some friends in Ornans, camping, but their plans, caving with massive abseiling,
were a number too big for the good old fat, slow and weak Franconian.
-
So I went on tour a bit.
Out for manmade underground but not well prepared I failed a lot.
Couldn't find exactly locations of that few places I had infos about, or maybe they did not even exist.
Isn't easy to search in a foreign language, you don't understand.
So what, saw lots of nice landscape, waterfalls, buzzard catching snake, Tour de France, etc.
-
I failed here too, entrance was grilled and I was too lazy and anxious to ask for a key.

bla, bla, bla

one day I found a little tunnel beside the road and gave that a visit, to do not stay without any real explore
http://goo.gl/maps/d3UQI
just a 50 meter one, but better than nothing.
That part of the
Pontarlier - Andelot-en-Montagne - Salins-les-Bains rail
seems only to have been in use for seven years, from 1928-35, not a story of big success.
Read some more history here, via google translate, I couldn't do any more than copy it out, myself:

some more relicts are left in the area
