Ambassador Hotel is a commonly known eyesore amongst the residents of Blackpool situated close to the North Promenade thousands of people pass it each day seeing it’s derelict and decayed state stand out on the seafront.

After closing in 2013 it has become a magnet for arsonists, vandals and is frequently occupied by rough sleepers.

On Wednesday 10th January 2018 at around 8:30pm reports of “huge flames” were seen at the derelict Ambassador Hotel resulting in 8 fire engines attending the scene to control the blaze. This was not the first time that the derelict hotel had been targeted as reports in July 2017 stated a mattress in a corridor was set on fire as well as October 2017 where rubbish in the basement was the cause.

As of February 2020, Blackpool based development company GoDevelopments Ltd founder Mr Gerard O’Mahoney submitted plans to Blackpool Council to redevelop the site into 19 new residential apartments with 17 car parking spaces. However as of July 2020 this remains to be unseen and the hotel still remains decaying and derelict on the popular Blackpool seafront.

A nice one to tick off on a day out to Blackpool with the family. I did some research on this before I went and so I decided to venture off on my own and go check it out. Entry was not straight forward however once I was in it was clear to see that most of the top floors were just a charred shell of little remains. I decided to venture downstairs finding nothing but stripped rooms however further down I got the more interesting it became. The reception and check in area as well as the bar and the dining area was fascinating. The pool table was an added bonus. I just couldn’t resist getting a cheeky shot of the Blackpool beach from the top either especially with the window wide open

What a death trap. Im surprised there is any staircases left tbh. Thanks for update on this. It shows us what to expect there, for a venue thats difficult to access its not worth a trip imo.

You covered the place well. So kudos for that. :thumb

I use to work here in 2001, was a dump then, rats running round food bad, but good to see inside and see what is left of the hotel. I bet there is many B&Bs and Hotels in Blackpool shutting.
Good report though, nice decay.

Love that last pic of the fire damage, good to see Blackpool getting covered as so many empty buildings that can be explored

Every time I see a pool or snooker table left abandoned somewhere, I die a little more inside.
