Hello everyone,

This is my first report, so here goes...

First, an abridged history of the place:

- Built between 1871-1875 with a £26,000 donation from Robert Barnes
- Closed in 1999, sold in 2001 to developers
- The main building is Grade II listed
- Also known as Barnes Convalsescent Home
- Used as one of the locations in the 1970s film 'Living Dead at Manchester Morgue'
- Was also featured in a 2005 episode of 'Most Haunted Live' (where it was falsely described as an asylum)

A more detailed history can be found on on the net if anybody wants to read more.

I've been driving past this place on my way home from work for about two years now, and finally managed to get myself down there for a proper look around.

This was my first confirmation that I was on the right path:

My first close-up glimpse of the building - it's a really imposing place when you first see it:

Inside, and immediately confonted with this. 'That chair':

The building is completely trashed inside, but there are still some interesting bits to see:

I really enjoyed it here. It's such a shame its so trashed though, a lot of the floors have gone through and the whole place is showing all the scars of being exposed to the elements / scallies / thieves for some years...

Thanks for looking, any comments will be gratefully received!
