It's not often I get a chance to explore something less than an hour away from me so when this popped up I decided it was worth the effort as it was so local - visited with @Grom @Brewtal and @Zotez

The house is set in the large expanse of Bulstrode Park just outside Gerrards Cross. A brief history and description of the house shamelessy copied/pasted from the historicengland.org website:

Bulstrode house (listed grade II) lies towards the centre of the park. Rebuilt by Benjamin Ferrey 1860-2 for the twelfth Duke of Somerset, probably incorporating elements of the earlier buildings, it is a rambling, red-brick, Tudor-style building with an imposing tower over the main, north entrance and a French Renaissance-style colonnade on the south front giving access to the adjoining south terrace. The enclosed Inner Court, a service courtyard, is attached to the east side of the house, with various C20 buildings close by. Attached to the north-east corner of the house is the Outer Court, entered from the forecourt through a Gothic arch with a ducal crest in the gable, flanked by railings and brick piers with stone caps. The other three sides of this court have a Gothic loggia fronting a single-storey building; access to the Inner Court is through a gateway on the south side.

In 1966 the house was bought by WEC International, an organisation specialising in training Christian Missionaries for work in far flung corners of the world. In December 2016 the property was sold and they moved to a new headquarters in Coventry, with plans for the conversion of Bulstrode House into a luxury hotel and conference centre approved by the local council last year.

Getting in was a bit of a trek but once inside, and with the ever present wailing of countless fire alarms going off we began the explore. The house is a labyrinth of rooms and staircases going everywhere, it's a shame just how much it's been chopped up and modernised inside and also a shame how idiots have seen fit to concentrate on making a mess of the grand entrance hall. The majority of the building is stripped empty rooms however there are some very nice features left inside if you look hard enough to find them.

An enjoyable morning out!

Just a shame we couldn't say a proper goodbye before you leave for Scotland! I'm sure you'll be down again though ha.

I knew you'd work out how to disable that damn alarm, although @Grom told me you two set off a different one later!

Haha yeah for our last act we set off a completely different alarm. We were about to head off anyway so it was no big deal. Although we passed a group of kids going in so I wonder if they got blamed for it later!

Hopped aboard the bus for this one this morning and even in that short space of time there is clearly more damage. Got home to find an acquaintance had tagged me in a LadBible (give me strength) post for the place, then saw those charming Hell on Earth chaps posting live from here too.

Being in the spotlight like that, with half term starting tomorrow, probably not ideal. Nothing we haven't seen before I know, but still.

Was inevitable sadly.

Don't know what the attraction is, other than the entrance hall its a dull empty modernised shell. I only went as it was so close to me!

Do not go to this place anymore. There are 2 polish men going round with metal poles claiming that it’s a crime scene.

Was here yesterday, there is not a single person there now, no secca, no nothing, we even rang the main bell and flew a drone around, nobody came...however there are alarms working inside the main building now, set them off while walking back through the main lobby heading to the exit.

Strange, there were plenty of security there a couple weeks back on my 2nd visit.

Really nice bloke who apologised to me and said the owners have had to clamp down because of vandalism.

Might be time dependent?

Strange indeed, we was there almost all day, nobody on site at all however people went in after us and a white van turned up, hung around for a few minutes then left

Nice, sounds like maybe you got lucky.

When I went in late February it was the same. I spent hours there but still had loads to see, so wouldn't mind heading back. Apparently there's a tunnel somewhere but I totally missed that...

I did hear a bleeping noise in the main lobby area when I was there thinking about it, but it seemed to be coming from an electric air freshener in one of the bathrooms!
