Chernobyl, Zone & Pripyat Sept 2010 - Part 4 - Outer Pripyat (pic heavy)
Part 4 - Outer Pripyat
Sorry i couldn't keep this together with the other posts, I cannot post in the new members reports (or add more than 30 pics!)
During the 2nd day of my visit to Pripyat i took the time to explore all the areas to the edge of the city, mainly to try and capture places which people might not have seen before.
A few of the photos where taken outside the control fence, so a good eye is required to watch for security patrols (unless you like been shot)
Pripyat Stadium - the grandstands where people would watch
A lighting tower at the stadium, unfortunately we didn't have time to climb!
Opening times of a nearby shop, long closed
I don't think this till has seen any money in a while
One of the 5 schools in Pripyat
A piano in the music department, it didn't work.
Old toilets near to the stadium
An inspection pit at a nearby garage
Bag of what looked like soil, perhaps used in radiation removal at some point
Medical kit among the bags of soil
One of the many residential flats around Pripyat, these would simply take took long to explore them all
Old boots left inside a breakdown center (like the AA)
Pripyat Cinema and Music Hall
Pripyat Cinema and Music house peeking through the bushes
Negatives littering the projection room floor
Entrance to the music hall
Piano on the stage in the music hall, a few keys still worked
Another Piano upstairs in the music hall, perhaps in a teaching room, again a few keys worked, we managed to half play a well known tune on there.
Pripyat Cafe
At this point we decided to leave the confines of the fence to explore a few areas, this is the Pripyat Cafe along the river
Stained windows inside the cafe
A monument outside the Pripyat cafe.
Riverboat
a Boat on the river, safety instructions for lifejackets
The abandoned riverboat
