This was my 3rd visit here, not much has changed which is GOOD
Just got in and I noticed a car was parked inside the fence.
Hmmmm, then a little old man appeared.
Just my luck eh!
I worked my charm and got speaking to him.
His name was Chick and he worked at Craigo for 30 years until the closure on 23rd December 1987.
500 employess worked there back in the day.
In 1988 he then moved on to J&D Wilkie.
I asked him about the washing line with clothes upstairs in the offices and he said that 2 years ago, 2 men from India came over to put some of the machines into crates, etc and were sorting things out in the mill. That was their living conditions for 3 months. They made a bed out of the sacks and were paid pennies. ... Makes sense now :/
Chick then let me take my photos and escorted me out the front gate =]
