Another belated report from me and yet another industrial site - as you can imagine, I rather like derelict industry.

Thanks again to @WhoDaresWins for showing me this place, it was certainly one of the highlights of last year for me. All in all the visit was successful; the weather was wonderful, the security dog didn't give away our location and we didn't end up getting chased around a housing estate by a man in a blue van. Result. Sadly we didn't get to climb anything for some nice shots of the place so a revisit is on the cards. :)

History

Cwm Coke was built in 1958 and is based outside a small town in Wales. At its peak, Cwm colliery was producing hundreds of thousand of tons of high quality, low sulphur coal per year. Much of this was processed at Cwm coke works, into high-grade coke suitable for foundry use. The National Coal Board closed the colliery in 1986, and Cwm Coke works in 2002, leaving yet another small Welsh town deprived and forgotten.

Trying out my newly built geiger counter on some paperwork we found.

Thanks for looking.
