The valley is full of trial adits and higher up on each side are slate quarries (including a very active one).

Following photos are a few from two of the bigger lower adits, included as a continuation of my other posts on the larger workings in the area. Can't give much history as there is almost nothing to be found in the archive and little more than a sentence in any of my books. Both are said to be 'slate' but neither look as though much good stone would have been won. In one case the spoil ouside looks likely to be equivalent to all but a barrowful of the extracted material. The other has less tipped material but the drive and feel is of a metaliferous working not slate. Little mineralisation and very few artifacts but still a pleasant bimble when the weather outside was zero feet visibility in cloud that was going horizontally at about 40mph!
