Report - Dalesway Lodge Motel Scotch Corner Richmond December 2019

Drove past this motel a while ago but didn't venture inside, wish I did to be honest because it was a cracking little place.
Access was easy , with no chew of anyone.
The motel was like walking into a 90s time capsule.
VHS players, old TVs and a record player defiantly give me some nostalgia from my 90s kid self.

I tried to find some information on the place but only found a removed sale article on Zoopla, so unfortunately I don't know when it closed.
No idea what the fate of this place is as its just left on the road side.
I'm surprised this place hasn't been done before considering where it is and easy access.

I tried to find some information on the place

There's not a lot. I found an external photo from 2010 with the grass overgrown and also a planning application from 2007 that gave permission to convert it to offices and build industrial units behind and beside it. Doesn't look like it's been closed 9 years though, unless it had a live in guardian. Certainly looks like it may have been squatted at some point.

Hey, literally made an account just to post on here.

I’ve lived a couple of miles away from Scotch Corner all of my life (I’m now in my mid-20s) and can confidently tell you that this place has been closed from somewhere between 1998-2005, probably closer to the 2000-2002 mark.

I’ve never ventured inside after it closed down but definitely doesn’t look as empty/derelict inside as I would’ve imagined judging from the photos. I would bet the signs of life still present were from squatters and not from any operating business.
