Daw Mill Colliery in Arley near Coventry was the largest remaining Deep Mine in Britain. In February 2013 a underground fire broke out which lead to the closure of the mine and forced UK Coal into administration.

Unlike previous colliery sites closed by UK Coal, Daw Mill has a high 24h on site security presence with CCTV and guard-dogs. As a result Pikey activity seems to have been pretty negligible.

Demolition is happening at quite a pace - Coal Prep is entirely demolished, the Bath-house and offices are gone along with the lamproom. The Drift and No2 Shaft are now fully backfilled and the final fill is going into No1 Shaft.
