From Wikipedia:
During the year that he was Mayor of Derby, Sir Alfred Seale Haslam managed to replace the old William Strutt Infirmary with the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary. In 1890 there had been an outbreak of disease at the old infirmary and Sir William Evans, President of the Infirmary arranged a three day inspection which condemned the old building.[2] When Queen Victoria came to open the new hospital on 21 May 1891 she knighted Haslam for his services and gave permission for the term "Royal" to be used
So, this is my first report after months of inactivity. Feels good to be back in the game!
I was quite excited to do this one and had been waiting a while. Was supposed to go with Tom Sherman but after circumstances got in the way twice in a row, I decided I'd had enough of waiting and did it solo.
Hopped on the train to Derby and after some discussion about access with another explorer, got stuck in.
This place is pretty huge. I had to leave pretty quickly as it was getting dark and the batteries on my camera were dying, so I missed some good bits of the site like the old x-ray machine. Also most of these shots aren't what they could be as I no longer have access to a tripod (mounting hole broken). I did what I could with my el cheapo bridge camera, improvising tripods as I went out of anything from old shoes to chairs.
Some pretty mediocre shots but I hope you enjoy them anyway.
