Report - Edinburgh Vaults 5th Oct 2013

Hi Chaps,

First report, well.. pictures i took while in the underground vaults of edinburgh

This is the room that many people baked alive in, when the houses above were on fire, people hid down here from the flames and were locked inside.. But the stones acted like an oven and unfortunately they all died (This happened in 1824 i believe)

The question is.... was it worth the entry fee?

I've just got home from a few days in Edinburgh and had to make the choice between The Vaults and Mary King's Close. Sadly I plumped for Mary King's Close (mainly 'cos I had the missus in tow and thought it might be more interesting for her) and am still kicking myself - £13.95 per person to get in and it left me with more questions than answers plus no pictures because it's under a Government building FFS! If you have a spare 14 quid then fill your wellies, they attempt to tell the story behind the close but to be perfectly honest you can get it all from the t'internet and that'll do you (IMHO).

yeah I was a bit underwhelmed with Mary Kings Close as well, I enjoyed seeing it, but I'd not bother going again.

Did you stick with the group or break away from it?
If it's the latter then I think just qualifies for a report.
