Yep, the control room is all that remains of that particular structure now, looks a little odd just sat there on its own...

They're using that to store the gypsum in at the moment, doesn't look like there's an awful lot left other than the massive shed though really, few other buildings dotted about...

Amenity block/control room is still there as well as the gatehouse and the contractors office block and the bridge across the mainline.
Funny how selby got forgotten about really - think hardly anybody else did the baths at any of the satellites despite the last only being demolished last year!

Id have hoofed it out of there had I witnessed the 'ghost miner'

Although I think all of that ghosts and ghouls stuff is bollocks, theres something about abandoned buildings that really gets the nerves on edge.

As an ex miner (fitter) i think you have captured it well. Cheers for the memories of a once proud and prosperous industry which is no more.
Not many miners were allowed in the winding houses or headstocks as it was authorised persons only so you have seen and shared a lot that miners didn't see.

I think in the 12 years ish I worked Castlebridge in Scotland I was only once in the engine room over the shaft, I was up and doon the shaft 7 days a week, sometimes more than once a shift, interesting set of pictures from an industry that will never be seen again in the UK, thanks for your efforts.

Very poignant. As an aside a retired politician whom i wont name (baron mason of barnsley-Roy Mason) told me the reasons the Pits were shut was that extracting millions of tons of coal every year was going to wreck the whole country as it settled and it was decided to keep the 'National Asset' if it were ever needed, for in time of an Energy Emergency. he was a bit pissed but interesting angle on the whole thing.

great report and photos well done !

"It's rather sad looking back on that lot now, the decline in British Industry is sickening really!" well the miners outpriced themselves, became cheaper to ship coal from halfway around the world.
