Report - Fort de Tournoux barracks

"The Fort de Tournoux is a fortification in the Ubaye Valley in the French Alps. It was built between 1843 and the 20th century to defend France against invasion from Italy and Savoy"...

First explore for a long time - Wikipedia will give you most of the history of the fort area. All these pics were taken in the barracks at the bottom of the site which is easily accessible. It saw action in WW2 and the front of the building is covered in bullet holes
A visit to the rest of fort upon the hillside would be worth a trip - There are occasional organised visits I think
