StopAndSearch, LoraTheExplorer and myself took a trip over to La Porte this afternoon. Considering how close we all live none of as actually realised it was there!
I cant seem to find a huge amount of history on this place but understand that as well as being an earth works they also produced cat litter at some point in time too. The site has been closed since the late 90's and is situated near Redhill's landfill site.
After a short walk we had arrived
First of all we took a look around the building to the left of the Gatehouse.
This switch was just one of the many things kicking about.
Found masses amount's of old paper work upstairs
Then we headed over to the main building
Once inside we came across these huge cylinders
Many off the steps leading up to the walkways above had been cut off at the bottom but there's always a way up.
One of the many conveyor's. I did think about climbing on here but decided not to.
Looking at the immense amount of metal work framing surrounding the machines.
I was unaware that all this technology was needed to produce cat litter!
The control room
Last of all we managed to climb to the roof
Another great explore all being that for some reason I was struggling to use my camera as i've just spent ages trying to bloody straighten them. Doh
