I thought it was a thurible at first myself but it's around 1m high and very heavy. It would make it unusual being that size but not improbable.
The lack of a chamber and expulsion holes made me think it could be lamp instead.

I plan to go back and inspect it closer but just wondered if it was obvious to someone.

Just popping these pics in here.

Was a bit short of time and not that well kitted out. Thought this place was a walk in and I'd have a quick peek, however, I was very wrong. The secca are doing a pretty good job keeping the perimeter pretty much fenced off.

Got some nice externals though so sharing them below:

A nice Christmas wander with the other half over the old dams at Barrhead just outside Glasgow. This consisted of a massive lake known as the dam. And then a series of reservoirs that was used for supply of water. These are not used anymore, but still maintained by Scottish water. It's a nice popular walking location with a few little bits to see. Shots taken on the phone.

Looking over the main dam, which is slowly being drained.

Sluice gates which feed the main dam, and can be lifted or lowered to control the flow from the small river.

These feed into a man made canal to feed into the reservoirs.

Was tempted to report on this one but it's literally two Pelton Wheels in a small building near Keswick, Lake District. There was I believe an artesian well inside too. Or whatever it was, there was water coming up out of the ground with some proper pressure. It was supposedly part of a hydroelectric scheme for Blencathra Sanatorium. There were some water tanks further up the hillside. Apparently these were built around 1915.
This was such a pain in the arse to get to...

Not report worthy as it's part of some farm buildings but the old equipment just left abandoned for 25+ years looked good.

On a side note, this visit did more to convert me and the family into making sure every egg / bird we now buy is from free range chickens not caged hens after seeing the size of the cages in real life.

Forgot about this place. A small collection of old motors in the woods in Bittering, Norfolk. I think these have all been cleared out now. He was obviously fond of a Spitfire. This was a few years back now so excuse the horrendous editing and photo quality :oops

He certainly did. I thought about posting the shrine in here too but looking back, my photos are god awful. And from what I hear it isn't really worth revisiting as all the stuff inside has 'disappeared'. Shame as it was lovely when I first visited.
