Haven Street Siding, Rolling Stock Graveyard - August 2012
Afternoon all, I've not posted a report up for a couple of week, been out and about all over the place! If your into your railways then this post will probably interest you, I understand it might not be everyone's cup of tea
The sidings here at Haven Street house most of the Isle of Wight Steam Railways redundant or scrap wagons and carriages as well as a solitary Steam Locomotive (Ivatt Class 2 46447). I could go on about the history of the islands railways but there's a lot to explain! So instead I'll go straight ahead with the images.
So firstly before I even reached the sidings themselves a few old Southern Railway Carriages were found dumped in the corner of a field just by the side of the sidings.
They had been heavily stripped and probably been used by the farmer as storage...
The actual sidings themselves now, starting with the wagons in the head shunt.
Some traditional Southern Railway Brake Vans and Tankers.
Looking back towards the Freight Wagons from between two more grounded Southern Railway Compartment Carriages.
Looking at the two Grounded Carriages, eventually the railway would like to make something of these shells I'm told.
And one last photo, again of the freight wagons in Storage.
So that's all from my little wonder round the sidings, I appreciate it isn't the most interesting of places to those without any interest in railways, but I enjoyed the walk and hopefully you enjoyed the pics, Cheers Michael
