Visited with Paul Powers and 2nd explore of my second day up there at his place!Doing a report on this one first though mainly for the reason i like these pictures enough to want to share on here,and there on my pc ready to go

Brief and i mean brief exerct of history taken from tut net

Holme Bank was the last of two operational chert mines in Derbyshire the other being the Pretoria Mine, both at Bakewell. Access was from adits in a quarry at Bank Top and the steep workings extended beneath the road to connect with the earlier Greenfield shaft. The chert bed lies on a 1 in 3.7 gradient and the mine was subject to flooding in severe winters. Illumination was by mains electricity in addition to carbide lamps carried by the miners.

Pranged my head pretty hard in here by being a twat who wasn't really looking where i was going

Thanks for looking and i must say it's a bloody lovely mine,we by no means covered the lot but there was some fairly fresh looking roof falls and i had other places to go.

sorry about the sizing of the portraits but im using flickr as phot fuckit is down and flickrs a pain to work out especially on this new software

looks like a tidy little mine fella, not to sure on the tailings being used as supports :eek: the cart shot at the junction is sweet :thumb

Missed this one Wevs, the toilets look like fun but this shot is effing glorious man, your swede will have recovered by now :)

its mising one thing that shot,but as paul said it was flooded down that right side i wasnt faffing about trying to find a way round the corner to backlight,specially not wearing trainers

'tis a bloody lovely mine indeed! Lots of nice intact stuff in there by the looks of it and you captured it well.
