Ardeer has been covered so well by Ben its almost not worth posting any more reports from the place but when you think about it theres a huge amount of reasons it deserves more.. It is one of the most unique, most interesting, most epicâ„¢ sites we have ever explored. Its way beyond the size of anything else out there, it covers square miles! It ranges from easy walk in to slightly dodgey, to quite risky, to totaly illegal infiltration! Areas range from being derelict for 60 or more years all the way through to still live and in use. Buildings range from stripped out shells of unknown use to large intact power plants and god knows what else.

Our first visit last July was interesting and showed me that even tho the place appears slack theres no room for taking your eye off the ball. We made our way through the older more derelict manufacturing areas heading for the powerplant and it all appeared easy but as we neared the plant we were spotted and stalked through the woodland by an army of security men for several hours. At the time it pissed me off not having reached the powerplant but the experiance of being chased through the forest stumbling on amazing derelict structures as we went, hearing huge explosions from the live plant echoing around the vally, was an experiance worth the trip alone! Straight out of an episode of 'Lost'

With another scotland trip on the cards we were of course going to go back for another go and the second time around we were careful and thing went more smoothly. Lately alot of people have been banging on about power stations in Belgium and the like but this place and the other places we hit up on the trip just go to show you simply dont need to go to europe for epic industry, we have it right here!
