April 2011 Jos and I have visit this kaserne

Here some info:
Original it was erected for the german forces in 1937-1944. After the war, the britisch army used this place as a centre for storage of nazi equipment. Part of the site had also function as a relief for (war-) refugees and elderly people. Also war prisononers were held here. In 1948 the place was transferred to the German social administration. Most motor vehicle halls and workshop halls were bought and used by local firms. In 1959 the modern German army required 67 ha of the site to turn it in a garison for the 7th tank brigade. In the years to follow, different units of the German army were stationed at this place as the Panzergrenadierbataillon, Feldjägerkompanie and Flugabwehrregiment. The site included baracks, excercise places, a vehicle education center, There were also Ammunition and supply warehouse of the Versorgungsbatallion and a Sanitätszentrum as well. The site lost its military purpose in 2003.
