what does it look like on the other side, that letterbox ?
felt no ground, but pressure on my breast when I slipped in;
didn't trust that situation and went back out to avoid getting trapped hanging in a hole

i think i went through the letter box,wel if not i squeezed thru a thin gap!

it was downward, PC
better to be called "the one who didn't fit"
than "the one who got rescued by the fire brigade"
but
I think I would have fit at the end

in that case no i didnt go thru that!

If I can fit through that gap you would easily fit through.
There is another tight horizontal squeeze beyond the letter box which leads into the other part of Swan (The entrance further up the Road)

Who is that good looking fella in the letterbox? :D
