Heyyyyy 28 sauce, Andy here....
Here's an aerial view I stole from the Internets

This was a weird one! It's essentially 3 separate power plants, interconnected via a network of conveyors from the shared coal yard. We had checked it out late one night, only to be thwarted by a security guy who, just by chance, happened to be the other side of the wall at the moment we tried to climb over. We buggered off pretty quickly and returned another night, with a different plan.
Units West I and West II were commissioned in 1971 and each had an output of 356 MW. The newer units, Block A and Block B were completed in 1982 and 1985 respectively and a whopping output of a 761 MW per unit! Units I and II did not have flue gas cleaning such as desulphurisation. Amazingly that was never a problem for the Germans and the whole plant was in operation until 2017.

Units West I and West II
Each unit at Voerde had it's own turbine hall. Units 1 and 2 shared a control room and boiler house.
That's me, that is.
And it's green sister in the adjacent hall.....
The control room was somewhat of a disappointment....
Units A and B
I have no idea why they chose to call these A and B rather than 3 and 4, maybe they had been watching Sesame Straße that morning.
The generators from units A and B had been removed for storage as spare parts at another site. What remained was still impressive for a modern unit - a pair of 761 MW turbine beasts.... Yeah, 761 MW each!!
Remember the I and II control room? Well, it doesn't get much better with Unit A.......
And Unit B's control room was even worse!!
Let's have a quick look at the mills then. The boiler houses were all pitch black.
And finally, a few quotes for my comrades....
And as always, thanks for looking
