I was with @plod and @Submarine when we discovered this place, as well as Cross Roads Cottage on our way to RAF Church Fenton in Tadcaster, so we thought it was worth a little look. I know it isn't much of interest but I thought it was worth posting anyway as I haven't seen an abandoned car wash before. It suffered quite bad fire damage in 2010 and there wasn't much there to suggest what the place used to be.
The Mobil/BP petrol station and its Wesumat Soft Wash W86.1 car wash system with blue polyethylene brushes was manufactured in 1991, and it closed in 2001 along with the former Little Chef restaurant after the sale of the chain to new owners. It is no longer accessible from the road so it may never re-open as a restaurant or service area.
