Littlebrook D is an oil-fired power station in Kent. The station was built in the 1980s and is located on the south bank of the River Thames next to the Dartford crossing.
Every time I drove over the bridge at Dartford, I would gaze over to the right, looking at Littlebrook wanting to have a look inside.

Early one morning @SpiderMonkey and I headed over that way. We got a much longer than usual look from the bridge, while getting stressed in huge tailbacks thanks to roadworks - despite an odd woman at the services blaming it all on Ed Sheeran for some strange reason!
Anyway, we eventually make our way in and no sooner have we entered the boiler house we hear an alarm. Fuck! So we start to head upwards, pretty hastily, but start to notice the alarm repeats in time with a huge, repeating whooooosh-bang once a minute or so. Turns out the alarm was part of the masses of machinery that's still running in there. Phew! On with the explore, which turned out in the end to be relatively dramaless and enjoyable.
Info about the power station itself can be found on RWE nPower's website, including a downloadable "visitor leaflet" which made me lol - if only they knew!

The place is an absolute fuckwank to shoot. The lights look really nice to the human eye but they are a nightmare for white balance, pictures had all sorts of shades of green and pink all over them. It's never going to perfect when shooting handheld high ISO anyway - I've salvaged them best I can....
