Visited last month with northcave. Contrary to what I'd thought, it's not an Alfred Waterhouse designed building - instead it turns out that one H.H. Vale was responsible. Either way, a fantastic building - just a shame it's been modernised and isn't as it once was. Typically original ceilings and glazed brickwork have been covered up over the years.
