A little bit of history about this place for anybody who doesn't know of its existence and for those that don't then you aren't missing a great deal.
Minffordd Hospital is a small community hospital that closed in 2006. The hospital was built in the aftermath of the 1882 typhoid epidemic that accounted for 42 deaths around the Bangor area. The hospital had a number of isolation wards.
I can only Imagine that due to access and Ysbyty Gwynedd being down road then there was no real need for this hospital to stay open which is a shame because it located in a lovely setting at the top of the hill overlooking the bay and Snowdonia National Park.
Due to finishing work early whilst in the area I decided to call in before heading back home although pretty much as soon as I stepped into the grounds it became evident that there wasn't much worth looking at so if anybody is planning on making the trip specially then I wouldn't bother, that is unless you are going due to the numerous reports of it being haunted like every unoccupied building appears to be......!
