Morden Mill..

I believe it was a working mill around the 1860's

listed as a grade 2 building

a nice peaceful wander with ilike hiddenplaces was bitterly cold but well worth it

a few local kiddies turned up while we were inside but left us well alone (apart from asking why we were taking photos )

Then it was the turn of a concerned local farmer to tell us we were trespassing on private land and all that after a bit of yes sir sorry sir.....
he was actually quite nice about it and told us a few bits turns out its going to be restored in the near future to its former glory.

Full credit to Explorador for finding this little gem.

A personal narrative to readers.

I am an x BBC Bxr Researcher. I love many things such as Cartography,
History, Prehistory, Human Evolution and Historical Psychology; Local
History, Natural History, Photography and all Science since Nought Blob.

I am a Diarist, Video Diarist, Professional Sound Recordist (Analogue
Audiophile, Popologist) that has owned a massive music library and did
all that before you could access long before the internet was established.

I am from Oxford, but didn't go to the Uni, but did inherit that ilk via mere
association. I am erudite, with an unfathomable, volcanic eruption-like
liking for anything that grabs my imagination. Yes, I have what is human?!

Personality? Oh dear - in all honesty? Heck... People have often found me
to be who I am and rapidly adjusted to the change from 'normality'. I am an
exceedingly considerate and passionate individual, never overwhelming
until they relate knowing something I don't! You can thank my parents for
my demeanor = I am a polite Englishman that loves all people. All. Total.
The only thing lacking in this world is love, and yes, I am an atheist. Devout.

What follows below is 'a wanting to help'. It is only that, and nothing more,
yet hope that it might sponsore a reaction from anyone that can accept me.
I have no time for falsehood, etc. I am me, so kindly, be yourself. Enough.
Explanation.
Most might deem that I am a nutter, whereas, and in reality, I am
merely something of a logical and systematical fruitcake!
Eccentric? Yes, I can be, and that is simply my passionate
disposition exceeding the bounds of my intellect, my understanding.
The less I am able to answer enquiries the more passionate/
obsessive I may become, dependant upon the gravity of the topic
or issue. I am very far from unique, as all knowledge has bounds,
and most is only shared - the extension of the established and
added upon through factual experience, or conjecture (wherein
lies the fault-line).

Re: Morden mill Wareham Dorset 2013
was very nice on the way out a farmer who regularly checks the site asked what we were doing i replied just taking pics he said it was nice to see people taking a interest in abandoned places an said we were on private property an we had to leave but said in the near FUTURE THEY ARE RESTORING THE PLACE. From Oblivion State.

b(44) Morden Mill (906938), with brick walls and slated roof, was built in the 18th century and extended and much altered in the 19th. On the first floor are three pairs of mill stones which were originally driven by an overshot waterwheel inside the mill, but this was replaced by a turbine in the late 19th century; corn bins and hoppers are contained in the roof space. In my many hours of research I crossed many astonishing facts that

are merely eye-opening... try these (in brief) :

Judith; MUNDEN; Wife; M; 63; ; Sturminster Marshall; F87p1

NB Sturminster = dairy agriculture region, around which the town's economy is built.

Wives dealt with domestic handcrafts as cottage industry, such as

Mary Jane; MUNDEN; Daug; Un; 20; Laundress; Morden; F87p

Sherford Farm; Elizabeth ; CLARKE *******; Visitor; Un; 25; Dress Maker; Tarrant Hinton; F87p2

Sarah Ellen; JOYCE; Daug; Un; 16; Glove Knitter; Morden; F93p14

; ; Mary Emma; JOYCE; Daug; Un; 14; Glove Knitter; Morden; F93p14

; ; Betsy Ann; JOYCE; Daug; Un; 12; Glove Knitter; Morden; F93p14

NB. I was going to do a full analysis on this issue but it is too fascinating

to abridge here, and it is best if the reader merely gawps with an open-

mouth themselves! Put it like this - in modern terms and language... you

didn't pop to a shop and get your clothing off the peg. You were made to

stand - and the item was bespoke crafted for you. You got to know them

on a personal level, just like your cobbler, blacksmith and quack doctor.

How many of your own could you now call 'neighbours', and moreover,

a friend? Well that is how the locals, and local economy operated, it was

a TOTALLY different mindset, a different attitude, as each was so highly

dependant upon each other. Psychologically, we have lost a great asset,

an ideal, and association, one borne of dependance of the other based

upon necessary goodwill and understanding: Think about this, and sigh!

This project is a beginning, one that is now started and that will never

reach completion as it is ongoing and in need of updating, only. That I

began this string is of no consequence, yet Morden Mill is. I know of so

very many, and while I breath, must endeavour to save where others of

that place no longer do not.

That is the sole purpose behind writing what you you just read.

Now if you wish to connect with me then have no hesitation.

I am just another person, a sentient like you, and it would be a

pleasure to chat. Its that simple.

Regards.

Mark.

PS. Soryy four erors, but aside of being facetious, I am exceedingly

tired.
