Nov 2016
I’d driven past this place a few times, and had noticed all the old buses and trucks hidden in the undergrowth.
Only after the explore I did a little research and it’s part of the West Devon transport collection, which has an open day once a year...
The Explore....
It was a soggy dull Sunday in November when we decided too go and have a look .. I’d checked google maps for the best access and decided the main entrance was worth a try.
The site is situated on the old airfield and judging by google maps the vehicles we lined up and down the sides of the old runways and on the old pan handles .
We parked up near the main entrance and started too walk down into the site as we rounded the corner we came face too face with a couple of mechanics dressed in dirty oily blue overalls, one of them holding a large junkyard dog that started going nuts when it saw us ...I greeted them with a smile and explained I was taking a photography course and would it be ok too take a few pictures of the old vehicles ... giving me a sideways glance whilst kicking a rusty bit of exhaust that lay on the floor he said “ yeah that’s fine ... just be careful “ and that’s all what was said, and we were on our way ... so many vehicles too list from double deckers too old London taxis in various states of decay .
