Park House in the Sefton area of Liverpool was built in 1878 as a private dwelling for wealthy corn merchant Richard Cornelius, the house - complete with two acres of gardens and a private fishing lake – was occupied by Richard, his wife Louisa, four of his children and five servents. In the late 1880s the house was taken over by the Sisters of Notre Dame as a ladies school. In 1902 it purchased by the Augustinian Sisters who have ran Park House since, under various guises, including a convalescence hospital, a nursing home, a convent and a guest house. The site became vacant at the end of 2015 as it was becoming ‘increasingly untenable’ to run.

Since closure there have been several planning applications put forward for demolition of the existing buildings and construction of approx. 142 affordable apartments for persons over the age of 55, although the local NIMBYs are doing a good job of objecting to any applications thus far.

Found this one a bit disappointing really, I think I expected to be rummaging through room upon room of old religious junk but it was mainly stripped and pretty soggy, but hopefully the original house can survive the future development in some way!

The old house has some lovely features. Just dont see builds like this anymore. Must admit I find the chapel nice inside to explore but very bricky outside.
