Hey all, after nearly three years of constant searching, I finally managed to get into the old Royal Mail sorting office in Portsmouth—though I won’t say exactly how I pulled it off! This massive building, opened in 1977, once had over 500 people working inside and was the main hub for sorting mail across Hampshire before it shut down around 2016. It’s been locked up tight for years, with guard dog units on-site even through 2022 to 2024, so getting in felt like a real achievement. Being one of the first to explore it properly was surreal—the place is packed with history, and those old mail chutes are something else, you just don’t see stuff like that anymore. Such a brilliant explore! Rumour has it redevelopment work might finally begin in late 2025, so this might’ve been one of the last proper chances to see it as it was.
