Spotted this beauty on the way to taking my nipper to the Science museum. I went back a few weekends later to check it out. As you can see from the exterior image it's on three levels but theres also a basement where I think they did most of the finishings, coatings etc. Theres a quaint little lift/dumbwaiter between floors. In the corners of some of the ceilings there are remnants of the wheels and pulleys with I imagine were part of belt driven machines back in the day.
It's a pity part of an old ghost sign as withered away, might of gave me a clue to finding out more history about the place.

Jigs "R" us last worked here but have since moved to a more modern premises.

Premier Plating Jigs design and manufacture jigs, PVC coating and other specialised items. The business was established in 1981, after the closure of F.O. Thomas Ltd., which had made electroplating jigs there from 1967. At an earlier time the building was used by a sheet metal working company established in 1921, but part of their name has worn off the building which was built in 1870.

Kens not in torquay again is he? :P

Looks like they have cleared off for good now. Office looks a lot more sparse. Must have taken the calender with him.

Love places like this. Untouched, loads of detail, atmosphere and crooked little rummage rooms. Especially when photographed well!

Even if it has been seen before, this is the sort of site I'd like to see more of on this forum.

I take back what i said earlier. We had a look just now and it's definitely still in use. One of the offices had been cleared out since we were last there but otherwise not much had changed other than an update of calendars from 2014 to 2016. Heating was on too which was rather toasty!

You seem to have the nack of exploring these 'looks derelict but isnt' places!

I'm not convinced that you didn't realise it was still in use. I think someone has been reading too many ACID-REFLUX posts and wanted to claim firsties on somewhere.

Please. Don't try and draw me into that type of drama lama. Have you been following the thread?
I'll recap.
I said "I thought it was a 1St" but never claimed it to be. I only noticed speed had done it 1st in "similar threads"at the bottom of the page after I posted my report.
