Second stop on the roadtrip for me along with lesbub, citadelmonkey and minty447 is the former Royal Naval Armanents Depot at Dean Hill. Given the size of the site we thought a daylight trip was called for. After a while scouting the outside and convincing ourselves that security was nowhere be seen we decided on a bold style of entrance. Within 2 minutes we could quite clearly see where security was and spent the rest of the visit expecting to get collared. If you like history here's the background. Onto the pics ....
First area to explore was the railway sheds
No rolling stock but we did find a tractor. Actually would have been a handy way to get around - the site is massive
Railway tracks are all narrow gauge
Exploring the first batch of storage chambers
Then we climbed up over the brow of a hill and ....yes.... bunkers !
And yes .... unlocked !
Security (I assume it was turned off)
From the top of the hill you can see the extent of just part of the site
A few more to follow .....
