Rossendale General Hospital dates back nearly 150 years.

But many people will be surprised to hear that the iconic building, whose twin towers dominated the skyline between Rawtenstall and Haslingden, first started out life as a workhouse for people who were unable to support themselves.

It officially opened as a hospital in 1912 and finally closed in 2005.

I agree with Speed, the building looks great from the outside but inside well, I managed to find a few interesting bits, but admittedly it's not great.

Originally visiting this place at night with 99% last year, we never made it inside due to the ever present 2-toothed scouse guard/dog.

For some bizarre reason this place has nagged me for sometime to re-visit, sadly without 99% who too wanted to have another look, mainly to find the morgue, which we did but was sealed up tight.

So here it is....

The place has been ripped, stripped and otherwise raped and pillaged aside from the odd medical item left strewn about here and there.

Despite someones best efforts to shred a load of paperwork, we still managed to find large amounts of confidential files etc and patient records kicking about.

Visited with mrshtuffs we managed to evade security on a daytime visit, before I headed over to Brapford to meet Squirrel for some digging and underground action, a busy day to be had all round.
