This was a trip down memory lane for me as this was the first school both myself and my sister attended all those years ago aswell as my mum serving the lunches for many years.
This building was originally the Wesleyan Chapel in 1845 and it belonged to the pit. In 1870 it became the Seaton Delaval Coal Company school. It was was extended and modernised and was still a school until its closure in June 2005. When it was moved to the middle school site along the road.
There isn't much history on the old school site.
