Because this place has been reported on so many times, I will keep the history brief.
- The Spillers Millennium Mills was designed and built in 1905 by William Vernon and Sons and bought by Spillers shortly afterwards.
- Millennium Mills was partially destroyed by a massive explosion at the neighbouring Brunner Mond’s works in 1917.
- 1970`s saw the decline as the docks and the building was de-commissioned in the mid 1980’s when Spillers moved their milling activities East to Tilbury.
- Millennium Mills’ future hangs on Japanese developer Kajima, who plans to turn the 60-acre site into luxury flats, 5,000 home waterfront development in the future, converting the Mills themselves into around 400 loft-style apartments when Silvertown Quays development starts, which will include a new Aquarium.
A few from the neighbouring Rank Hovis mill
Spillers Millenium Mills
Cheers for looking. Rookie.
