Spode pottery was founded in 1767 by Josiah Spode on the Church Lane site and continued to produce pottery there until 2008. The company is very significant in the pottery industry as they perfected the formula for fine bone china and were the leaders in blue underglaze printing

First stop on entering the site was the mould store where we rescued a fox who had been trapped in the building, now the downstairs of the stores was much the same as the many mould stores we had seen during the day on our potteries excurion. The upstairs was a blast from the past, moulds dating back 40-50 years for lines that had long since stopped production.

Next was into the main building, what amazed me was the ammount of light inside here even though daylight was fading, various driers and kilns still dotted about the place made for a good explore
